Class Notes
Class 48
Maureen Carollo
NBC Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, OK
"I am still at NBC Oklahoma and staying busy with the never ending compliance changes like everyone else (and you guys made fun of me in class for being the complaince nerd-see how things have changed!!).  Not happy to see how the changes have affected us all in such a short time, but I know we are all very busy with kids sports schedules and other activities (run from baseball games to softball games and back again).  Still on the ABA "Bank Compliance" Magazine Editorial Advisory Board and the Oklahoma Banker's Association Compliance School Board.  I really miss the SWGSB days and am actively recruiting unsuspecting officers here at the bank who don't realize what great candidates they would make as new SWGSB students!  Keeping in touch with some classmates but not getting the scoop on everyone and hoping that all will make it out of the current environment okay.  Go Dragons!!"
Class 47

Guaranty Bank, Dallas, TX
"I am still at Guaranty Bank spending most of my days researching, developing, and managing the credit risk measurement processes and risk rating systems.  Away from the bank I spend time with my two kids, fitness, and learning."

During my last year at SWGSB, our investment division transferred out of the FHLB of Dallas and into Shay.  I have been at Shay since 1993 and wouldn't work anywhere else.  I love it!  I was made partner in 1998.  With my job, I travel to banks in the southwest.  I get to see some classmates of 34 and others from other years.

Class 33
James Meyer
The Farmers State Bank, Holton, KS
"I am now living in Topeka, KS and I am the President of a small Agricultural Bank of $49MM in Holton, KS.  I travel about 30 miles, 30 minutes a day to and from the bank.  During that time I listen to books such as Aristotle's Ethics, Plato's Republic, murder mysteries, and other books that interest me.  I'm sure we all wish that some of our business leaders had also listened to an Ethics class somewhere and at some time.  I have purchased 30 acres close to the bank and when I complete my home on that ground I will auction off the home in Topeka.  As the President/Ceo of the bank and holding company I wear several hats such as the senior lender, securities portfolio administrator, and human resource manager.  We also plan to expand the bank so I am the holder of the strategic plan. Like me the ALCO Committee believes that in these times, "there is profit in confusion", and we plan on taking advantage of this confusion to the benefit of the bank and its stockholders."

"Good to hear from you.  In fact, it's good to hear about SWGSB.  I have many fond memories of my time there.  There's nothing new about me.  Just work, work, work.  I guess I'm just boring and have not done much to improve my bank (lucky for me that I work for a great, intelligent, and insightful CEO; a great Board; and a "top notch" executive management team - oh how fortunate for me).....Take care."
